Wildflowers

While the rest of the country has been covered in snow, the weather in California has been incredibly hot and dry.  I can’t remember a winter like this!  (I’m sure the East Coast is saying the same thing.)  We have had frequent 80 deg days for the past 2 months.  I’m not complaining about the nice weather but we do desperately need rain, especially living on a private well for all of our water.  It has been so warm that the wildflowers that usually bloom in spring are popping up in early February.  I decided to capture all of the beautiful colors around our house because they will only be here for a short time…

I took the pictures with my phone so the resolution is not so good on some but I think you can still see the vibrant colors.  My favorites are the wild sweet peas and the California lilacs, the bright purples on these really stand out against the surrounding brush.

I’m so thankful that I can step outside my door and see all of these amazing native flowers.  I love living out in the country :)
